Candy Clifftops at Gingerbread City 2022-23
Clifftops reimagined for the Museum of Architecture‘s Gingerbread City.
Having visited The Gingerbread City in past years, our design team were very excited to be taking part on behalf of the practice for the first time.
“We had a few baking enthusiasts in the office already, so we figured what better opportunity to combine two of our passions, buildings and baking.”
Our team went along for the architects preview evening on Friday night. We had so much fun looking at how all the amazing creative structures came together, not to mention how good the room smelled!
The exhibit includes five miniature cities across five different climate zones: Polar, Continental, Temperate, Dry and Tropical. Candy Clifftops sits in the temperate region. The design team envisaged a place that would provide refuge for ‘seasonal workers’.
“We took a playful approach to our design by reimagining one of our projects as seasonal housing for Santa’s reindeer and elves during the busy run up to Christmas.
On baking day, we divvied up the plot and each got to work on our different areas. Some were on reindeer and elf modelling, others on the structural elements and landscaping. This dynamic teamwork allowed us to bake and build the whole thing in a day!”
Now in it’s 5th year, The Gingerbread City runs from 3 December 2022 – 2 January 2023
