Clad in Colour: Reimagining London’s Colour Palette (LFA 2023)
Morrow + Lorraine are pleased to announce that we will be participating in London Festival of Architecture 2023 as a Studio Late event on Friday 16th June.
This year’s curatorial panel have chosen the theme ‘In Common’, “We have more in common than we know. How do we make the most of what we have in common – and explore the things we don’t?”. With this, we have decided to explore the shared experience we gain from colour.
Colour hugely influences how we perceive the world around us and can be both a personal and shared experience. However, our daily engagement with colour is often a subconscious one and it can be overlooked. We therefore wish to spark a conversation surrounding its psychology, and celebrate the positive impacts it has on our lives!
The evening will begin from 6:30pm giving time to grab a drink, some nibbles, say hello and settle in.
We will then be joined by Jeremy Fielding, Business Development Director, Atrium, who is kindly going to present a shortened version of the company’s RIBA certified CPD: Unlocking the Code of Colour. This aims to give an insight to some incredible impacts colour has on our psychology and wellbeing as well as inspire those about to take part in the activity.
The main event will take place on our street-level glass façade. Here a pre plotted map will act as a setting to invent a reimagined map of The City of London. Each team will receive their own plot set within a pane of glass, architectural prompts, and a variety of colour oriented ephemera to get creative with.
By the end of the evening we will be left with a wildly colourful and inspired panorama of the city created by a collective of individual and shared experiences – prizes for the winning team!
In addition, Morrow + Lorraine would also like to take this opportunity to encourage those who would not typically explore the City of London to do so and engage with its phenomenal architecture. And for those who would like to simply visit the practice’s new studio space; you’d be most welcome here.
