Seeking ambitious and talented interior designer

We are looking for an ambitious and talented interior designer with FF+E experience, to join our award-winning architectural practice to work on a variety of live projects across a range of sectors including residential, commercial and leisure.

All our projects are characterised by an imaginative, pragmatic and sensitive approach to architecture and design and we are looking for an interior designer who can enhance the interior sophistication of our projects through a creative and collaborative approach.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent design credentials, high verbal and visual communication skills and a strong sense of initiative. Individuals must be driven, eager to learn and develop, be able to assist on a wide variety of projects and should be capable of working both autonomously and as part of a larger team. They must be able to work and communicate efficiently, within our close-knit teams, taking responsibility and delivering carefully considered design and architecture.

 

Responsibilities:

+      Create interior design and FF+E design concepts

+      Create and supply content for design team submissions and client presentations

+      Liaising with consultants, contractors and clients

+      Liaising with suppliers, fabricators and sales representatives

+      Running of FF+E projects (to complement architectural projects)

+      Produce project specific FF+E specification schedules

+      Prepare and manage cost spreadsheets for reporting on and the approval of budgets

+      Produce detailed drawings and technical information packages

+      Plan and manage FF+E procurement to suit lead times for site installation

+      Ongoing materials research

+      Order material samples and record, collate and distribute any supporting technical documentation to the team

+      Manage material finishes library

+      Create and manage supplier database

 

Essential Experience and skills:

+      Experience in FF+E design, selection and procurement

+      Commercial and/or prime residential Interior Design background

+      Minimum of two years working in an interior design studio / architectural practice with completed projects

 

Desirable Experience and skills:

+      Ability to work well under pressure, organise, prioritise, and successfully meet deadlines

+      Strong communication skills (including client-facing presentations)

+      Good knowledge of UK building regulations and industry design standards

+      Good knowledge of available furniture, bespoke joinery detailing, and basic construction

+      Good awareness of current industry trends (styles, colours and materials)

+      Good understanding of commercial viability of concepts and designs

 

Must be skilled and proficient in:

+      Freehand sketching

+      Microsoft Suite (Office, Excel etc.)

+      Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign etc.)

+      2D CAD software (AutoCAD, Microstation etc.)

 

Salary and start

The position is available initially on a contract basis for 6 months with a view to a permanent role, with rates and salaries that are commensurate with relevant experience.
