100 Clerkenwell Road
Clerkenwell, EC1MA low carbon approach was taken at all stages for the fit-out of five luxury build-to-rent apartments, yielding a carbon footprint under 100kgCO2/m².
Located in St. John’s Square, neighbouring The Zetter Townhouse Hotel, 100 Clerkenwell is positioned at the heart of the creative design district.
Circularity and low-carbon principles were implemented at the earliest stage. The majority of materials specified in the fit-out were of recycled content with materials being sourced from within the UK where possible. These included recycled carpet and underlay, waste wood chip kitchen worktops, natural clay plaster from Cornwall and tiles of high recycled content in kitchens and bathrooms.
The health and wellbeing of future occupants was an equally important driver, with a focus on internal air quality, from the VOC content of the kitchen cabinetry to the last coat of low VOC paint on the walls. LED lighting is via smart building control and is fully programmable to reduce energy.
High quality detailing throughout will make for the best experience for future occupants, while natural and robust materials will weather and age beautifully over time.
